Lower School Choir Serenades Windsor Castle!

In a splendid blend of musical and regal ambiance, the Lower School Choir graced Windsor Castle with their beautiful singing. Under the guidance of Mrs Cowan, the Lower School Choir had the honour of adding to the Winsdor Castle festivities. The halls adorned in festive Christmas decor provided the perfect backdrop for the choir’s performance.

This extraordinary opportunity not only showcased the talent within our School but also allowed the young singers to experience the thrill of performing in just a grand venue. Mrs Cowan’s dedication to providing such unique opportunities highlights the commitment to nurturing artistic excellence within the school community.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Cowan for orchestrating this memorable opportunity for our talented young vocalists and well done to Lower School Choir for representing our School so wonderfully.

Celebration of Christmas 2023

In a wonderful evening of yuletide cheer, we recently hosted our much-anticipated annual “Celebration of Christmas” concert, uniting pupils from Years 3 to 13 for a festive array of carols, musical performances, readings and lessons.

The Welsford Hall was decked out at its Christmas best, setting the perfect stage for the evening. Our parents, governors, staff, and community members created an atmosphere of holiday spirit.

Our readers delivered their messages with wonderful poise and clarity while our choirs filled the hall with festive cheer. A special mention goes to our orchestra with their lovely rendition of “Walking in the Air,” and our community choir, who serenaded us with the classic “White Christmas.”

Heartfelt gratitude extends to our dedicated music department and to our generous attendees who opened their hearts and wallets, raising over £1000 for Alton Foodbank and Naomi House & Jacksplace.

Our New Multi-Use Games Area

Sister Helen, accompanied by Mr. Reeve, our Headmaster, Mrs. Jackson, the Bursar, and an enthusiastic assembly from the PE department and Year 10, marked the official inauguration of our new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA)!

This exciting addition promises to become a hub of athletic activity, enhancing our school’s commitment to physical education and fostering a spirit of healthy competition. With Sister Helen’s blessing, the MUGA opens its gates, destined to be a central space for PE lessons, fixtures, and spirited House events.

As we embark on this new chapter, we extend our gratitude to all who contributed to the realisation of this new area and we can’t wait to witness the countless memories and victories it will witness. Here’s to a future filled with athleticism, camaraderie, and a whole lot of fun!

Whoops-A-Daisy Angel Nativity 2023

In a heartwarming display of festive cheer, the young stars of Red Kites, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 took to the stage in the enchanting Whoops-A-Daisy Angel Nativity. The delightful Olivia stole hearts as our endearing Whoopsy Daisy.

The angelic cast, illuminated the stage with their joyful performances and told the story of how Whoopsy Daisy was getting a bit fed up with counting snowflakes while all the other Angels had very special jobs as they were all as perfect as can be! Until, Whoopsy was given a very special job, the most important job of all!

Here’s what our young performers thought of their experience:

“I have loved practising for the nativity, it is a special story and I liked being an angel and leading the snowflakes” Ariana (Year 1)

“I liked doing a bow at the end! Everyone clapped and we sung together.” Juliet (Reception)

“We light candles and remember the birth of the baby Jesus.” Rahyl (Year 2)

Christmas Fayre 2023

On Friday 1 December, our Alton School community immersed in the yuletide spirit at the Christmas Fayre, hosted by our dedicated PTFA. The Drama Studio transformed into a winter wonderland with an array of stalls, featuring everything from dazzling jewellery and Christmas cards to charming home decor.

Excitement filled the air as pupils eagerly explored the various attractions, including a sweet stand, a photo booth, the hanging doughnuts challenge, face painting, and more. The karaoke corner emerged as a crowd-pleaser, echoing with festive tunes and a sprinkle of ABBA magic.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the afternoon was Santa’s Grotto, where our elves, with boundless cheer, assisted Santa in delivering joy and presents to our younger pupils.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to our incredible PTFA for orchestrating yet another triumphant fayre.
