Headmaster
Andrew Reeve

Andrew has taught in both independent and state sectors in a range of schools. An Economist by training, he has degree from York University and a master’s degree from Exeter. He has a real interest in educating the whole person and is currently undertaking some research into learning and teaching at Oxford University. Andrew enjoys most things to do with water; swimming, paddle boarding and sailing. He also enjoys walks in the beautiful Hampshire countryside around Alton.

Bursar
Magdalena Jackson

Magdalena has a master’s degree in international political and economic relations from Warsaw School of Economics. For the last 15 years, she has worked as a bursar in both state-funded and independent schools helping the schools to navigate the ever-changing educational landscape. In her spare time, Magdalena enjoys reading and cooking, as well as spending time with her family.

Deputy Head
Susie Brooks

Susie has a degree in Mathematics and Sports Science, along with a PGCE in Secondary in Mathematics teaching from the University of Chester. She has over 25 years of teaching experience, in both academic and pastoral roles, predominately at Alton School. Outside teaching, Susie enjoys swimming and cycling, taking part in occasional aquabike events. She can often be found walking her dog on the beaches of the south coast.

Scott Sanderson (DSL)

Scott, with a BA Hons in Physical Education and Teaching with an SKE in Mathematics from the University of Chichester has been with Alton School for 9 years. Scott initially assumed the position of Head of Sixth Form in 2015. His unwavering commitment to the pastoral care and well-being of students led him to transition into the role of DSL in 2020. Outside his professional commitments, Scott balances family life with a love for sports, actively participating in both the Alton Town first football team and the Binsted Cricket Club.

Director of Lower School
Gerry Mooney

Gerry has a degree in Languages from St. David’s University College, Wales, and subsequently earned a PGCE in Languages and PE at Swansea. With a love for travel and cultural experiences, she brings a wealth of knowledge from her decade at Marlborough College Malaysia, where she served as Deputy Head Academic in the Prep School. Gerry is passionate about fitness, enjoying activities like body pump, barre, and running. She also loves outdoor adventures in our beautiful countryside.

Director of Upper School
Jackie Ward

Jackie has spent the majority of her 25-year teaching career working in all-through independent schools, having previously worked in Public Health as a medical microbiologist after graduating with a degree in Biomedical Science then completing her PGCE with the Open University. As a passionate lifelong learner, she has recently completed a master’s degree in education at King’s College, London.

Jackie enjoys playing cricket and is an active member of her village Women’s cricket team as well as a coach for the 5–11-year-olds. She also enjoys spending time walking in the New Forest.

Director of Nursery
Sarah Harvey

Sarah has a BA (Hons) in Childhood & Youth Studies and is also a qualified Early Years Teacher (EYITT). She has over 20 years of experience working with children here at Alton School. Sarah has a busy home life as she has two young boys; she enjoys spending time with them.

In any other spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, cooking, and trips to the theatre.

Director of Studies
Miranda Hodgson

Miranda has degrees in English from Oxford and Harvard Universities and completed her PGCE in Secondary English teaching at Roehampton University. She has previously taught in HMC day and boarding schools and enjoys the challenge that delivering excellent teaching and learning brings on a day-to-day basis. Miranda is also a Soto Zen Buddhist priest and teaches meditation in her local area. In her free time, Miranda enjoys sewing, cooking, reading, cups of tea, and going for walks.
