Extra-Curricular Activities

“Just try new things. Don’t be afraid. Step out of your comfort zones and soar” Michelle Obama

In the Lower School, we believe it is essential for our pupils to have a broad view of the opportunities they could get involved in. We encourage them to take part in activities and have different experiences that may uncover new capabilities they were not aware they had.

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities which change each term to suit the seasons and levels of demand. These are available for Reception through to Year 6.

Before and after school clubs are run by our teaching staff as well as external providers (paid for separately). These are reviewed termly to make sure we have something for everyone and that they reflect the time of year and compliment what is going on in lessons. They include:

calligraphy, debating, craft, cross-stitch, morning cross-country, sports club, morning cricket nets, gardening, cooking, drama, dance, French, computer club, orchestra, bells, chamber choir, buggy making, football, tennis, yoga, film review club and equestrian club.

Back by popular demand – Buggy Club

Imagine going to school and learning how to design, build and race an electric kit car—welcome to the Buggy Making Club!

This club is suitable for Year 5 and 6. Pupils are given a box of parts and a set of instructions from which they build a small electric car. Next comes learning to drive, straight lines, slaloms and “don’t hit the cones”. We use our fabulous tennis courts to take them for a spin!

For the horse lovers – Equestrian Club

Our equestrian club runs weekly on a Thursday evening and is open to all pupils from Year 2 to Year 13. We encourage all levels of rider from complete beginners to those who are more experienced and want to canter and jump.

Activities include lessons in the school, hacking in the beautiful countryside, as well as gymkhana, handy pony and even the chance to compete in our inter school friendly competitions.

Want to play in an ensemble? – Orchestra Collective Club

This is a lunchtime club open to instrumental players who are grade 1 and above or by invitation. It is a chance to be introduced to the orchestra environment, play as a group and work towards concerts and school events. There is also an opportunity for non instrumental players to be involved and be part of the percussion section.

The best start to your day! – Morning Mile Club

Come along on a Friday morning and join Mrs Brown from 8am for a fun run around our beautiful grounds. A fantastic way to start the day, as well as developing your endurance running at the same time. This club is suitable for Years 3-6.

This is just a small selection of what we currently have on offer. Parents receive a full schedule of clubs at the beginning of each term.
