Celebrating A level results at Alton School

There was much excitement and tears of joy as Sixth Form students received their impressive and very well-deserved A level results. Students were delighted to have their future plans confirmed and are looking forward to celebrating their fantastic achievements with friends and family.

High grades were awarded in subjects across the curriculum, including the sciences, humanities and arts, with particularly strong results in History, Religious Studies, Spanish and Music. 13 subjects had a 100% pass rate of grades A*- C.

Overall 45% of students achieved A*- A and 92% gained A*- C.

At Alton School all students have the opportunity to complete an Extended Project Qualification. As in previous years students produced excellent work in their EPQ resulting in a 100% A*- C pass rate and 25% at A*.

All our students are now looking forward to taking their education to the next level, with the majority of students accepted into their university of choice and over 40% heading to the top Russell Group Universities. These include courses to study Dental Surgery at Plymouth, Architecture at Cardiff, English at Exeter and Zoology at Southampton. Two of our students have been at Alton School since Nursery, one of whom has secured a highly sought-after place to study early child development at the prestigious Norland College and the other to study Physiotherapy at Kings College London.

Headmaster Karl Guest and Director of Upper School Jackie Ward are delighted for these A level students who have worked incredibly hard and have overcome the challenges along the way.

“I’ve been watching these students develop and grow over the last two years and I am extremely proud of the confident, well rounded young people they have become. As a group, they have been so supportive of each other and now they are totally ready to meet the challenges of university”. Jackie Ward

These have been such challenging years for our Year 13 students, many of whom are sitting public examinations for the very first time. I am immensely proud of what each and every one of them has achieved and know that their futures will be bright and exciting. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Alton School who have worked so hard to prepare our students for these examinations and thank you to our parents for their support and encouragement”. Karl Guest
