We hold three Open Mornings a year, in the Autumn Term, Spring Term and Summer Term.

These days will include a welcome by the Headmaster and pupil led tours around the campus.  It will be an opportunity to talk to members of staff and pupils.

Individual visits can be booked at any time during the year. The Headmaster or Director of Upper School would welcome the opportunity to meet you and you will be shown around by a senior member of staff or a Sixth Former.

By completing a Registration Form and returning with the required £75 fee, you are showing a firm expression of interest and this is the first step to applying for a place at Alton School.  You can access copies of our Registration Form by clicking on the links to the right of this page.

We are selective in the Senior School & Sixth Form. External candidates for the Senior School will sit an Entrance Assessment to join any year group. Following the assessment, you will receive a letter.  Subject to success in the assessment and availability your son or daughter will be offered a place. 

In the Sixth Form, entrance is via an interview with the Director of Upper School and successfully achieving 5 GCSEs at 6 and above and will be subject to availability.

Our main intake for Year 7 – 9 & Sixth Form will be in September, however we welcome applications for any year group throughout the academic year.

To indicate your acceptance of a place we will ask you to complete an Acceptance Form and return it with a £500 deposit to secure the place. This deposit is returned once your son or daughter leaves the school. Should the required place be full you will be offered the opportunity to place your son or daughter on a waiting list or your Registration Fee will be returned.

Before entry to Year 7 in September pupils will attend an Induction Day in June and an Orientation Day on their first day with us.   These are opportunities for pupils to familiarise themselves with their peers and the School. 

In the Sixth Form pupils will be invited to an Induction Day at the beginning of the Autumn Term.

The Sixth Form are normally invited into school the day before term starts.

This gives pupils an opportunity to be settle in to their study rooms and to run through their timetables and discuss any individual requirements.
