Transferring to the Senior School from the Prep department
Pupils in the Prep school are not required to register for the Senior school. In the October preceding the entrance exam, Year 6 parents will be asked if they wish to enter their child for the exam and they will be required to complete an entry form and pay a £25 administration fee. Mr Maher, the Headmaster is very happy to see Prep school parents regarding their child’s senior education. Please contact Mrs Pigott who will be happy to organise a meeting, as well as a tour of the senior school.
To apply for a place, you will need to register your child by the end of October for entry the following September. Once registered, we will be in contact with you to arrange for you and your child to come in for a meeting with the Headmaster. In early November all registered children will be invited to sit the entrance examination, which takes place on Saturday 11th January 2020 between 09.15 and 13.00.
You will be required to complete an entry form and return this with a £25 administration fee. Scholarship and bursaries details are sent to all registered applicants at this time. A place will be offered to your child based on his or her performance in the entrance examination, which consists of English, Mathematics (based on the National Curriculum) and Verbal Reasoning (samples of which can be obtained from any good bookshop).
By the end of January we will have written to you either offering your child a place or not based upon her performance and school records. If he or she has done exceptionally well they might be asked to return to sit the Scholarship paper. At the time of offer you will also be made aware of any scholarships that have been awarded and these stay in place throughout his or her schooling until the end of the Sixth Form.
If you wish to decline any offer made we will need notification in writing within 7 days.
In the term before entry, we will send the full joining instructions containing detailed information about entry to the school. If your child is joining Year 7 he or she will be invited to join us for an Induction Day in June.
In this pack will be information on uniform, the House the children have been placed in and other helpful tips and advice on starting senior school.
We usually invite all the Year 7s into school one day ahead of the whole school returning which gives them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their classrooms and their timetables without all the other pupils!
School transport will not operate on this day but we do encourage those using school transport to use this facility as soon as possible as it will help them meet other pupils.
