Tea Time Concert

Alton senior school’s annual tea time concert was once again a tremendous success! It is aimed at our talented year 7-9 pupils and gives them the opportunity to perform in a more relaxed environment. As always, a wide variety of styles on clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, flute, piano and drum kit were heard as either solos, a duet or trios  – from the delicate fioritura of a Chopin Nocturne to the heavy rock rhythms from the drumkit! The chamber aspect was perfectly represented by our string quartet who gave a polished performance.

It is rewarding to see pupils take charge of their own performances – our year 8 flute trio was ably accompanied by a year 7 pianist and our year 9 a capella vocal ensemble delighted the audience with their arrangements of Stay and Read all about it for which they worked out harmony parts and rehearsed without any teacher directed input. Well done to all the girls involved!
